A Couple of Freshmen Could Steal the Show For the Michigan Wolverines
The Michigan Wolverines will be losing their best player in the upcoming season, but some talented players will be joining the team. In fact, a couple of the incoming freshmen could steal the show in the 2013-14 college basketball season.
Sure, Mitch McGary is going to get a boat load of hype, along with Glenn Robinson III and Nik Stauskas, but four-star Derrick Walton will have a chance to start and Zak Irvin is a five-star recruit.
Trey Burke leaving opens the door at the point guard position. There is a good chance that Spike Albrecht takes over at that spot, but Walton has a lot of hype and could be the starter as well. That is a great battle for Michigan to have since it will be for sure to have a good player at field general and it does have to replace the best player in college hoops from last season.
Irvin, on the other hand, is the highest rated recruit joining the team. He is ranked No. 22, according to ESPN. Sure, some talented players and proven ones at that will be back, but you would think that Irvin would get a chance to play some minutes at some point–likely at the beginning of the season.
However, that is just speculation.
Whether the case, Michigan is stacked. The Big Ten will be very competitive once again, but the Wolverines will compete for a conference title and they will be good enough to go on a Final Four run once again. Just make sure to watch out for the incoming freshmen, though.
