The Ole Miss Rebels disappointingly fell out of the 2015 NCAA tournament to the Xavier Musketeers behind the impressive play of Matt Stainbrook, but they will come into the 2015-16 season fairly optimistic. Ladarius White and Jarvis Summers will be missed, but Andy Kennedy’s team boasts a lot of depth and talent, as well as the most clutch player in college basketball, Stefan Moody.

The number of big, game-changing shots that Moody made last season is really what led to Ole Miss’ ability to make it to the tournament. The freshman averaged 16.6 points per game and will likely go well beyond that this season. He could easily be a player who ends up leading the country in scoring at the end of the season.

All gushing about Moody’s talent aside, the Rebels will be a top half of the SEC team next season with NIT potential. I’m not sure that this team is ready to compete with the LSU Tigers, Kentucky Wildcats or Texas A&M Aggies, but they should dominate most of the teams that are rebuilding in the conference. Ole Miss is in the midst of a transition year, as they continue to try and find the right big pairings for their plethora of consistently talented guards.

Although not known for recruiting, Kennedy continues to bring in underrated recruits who perform when given time on the court. Watch out for Donte Fitzpatrick to make a splash for this team off the bench, as the Rebels continue to hang around the NCAA tournament bubble for another season.
