Landing one of the top quarterback recruits in the 2015 class, the Michigan State Spartans and head coach Mark Dantonio looks to be in great shape at that position for the foreseeable future. Jayru Campbell announced today after his unofficial visit to East Lansing, Mich., that he plans to become a Spartan.

It’s pretty obvious that the young signal-caller is happy to call himself a Spartan and there’s no doubt that he will be suiting up as the starter in no time.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound quarterback has led Cass Tech High School to two straight Division I state titles in the state of Michigan. Being a successful high school quarterback, win-wise, has to be huge for the Spartans as they will need someone to quarterback this team in the future and take them to places they haven’t been in decades — national titles and the Rose Bowl.

As one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks and best overall quarterbacks in the nation for the 2015 class, Campbell looks to be just what the Spartans needed going forward.

As a freshman in 2011, Campbell passed for 2,000 yards with 32 touchdowns and only six interceptions. Yes, those are freshman year numbers, folks. He played even better and with more confidence, if that’s even possible, as a sophomore, winning yet another state title.

His junior season will be a big one in 2013, but Cass Tech is once again a favorite to win the title and Campbell will likely boost his national ranking and attention surrounding him.

Sure, the Spartans have Damion Terry to be their quarterback of the future, but if Campbell redshirts in 2015, that gives Terry three years to start followed by three years for Campbell. Looks like Michigan State are in good hands for a while.
