After losing Davar Daniels to an academic-related suspension, most wrote off the Notre Dame wide receivers as a weak point for the Irish this season. Daniels was Everett Golson’s lone major returning target from the 2012 12-1 team. Enter Will Fuller, Chris Brown, Corey Robinson, Amir Carlisle and now Torii Hunter Jr.

After recovering from a case of the drops, Fuller has emerged into one of the nation’s best receivers. He has always had blazing speed, but he is catching everything thrown his way over the past two games. In total, Fuller has caught 25 passes for 344 yards and five touchdowns.

Brown came out of hiding to catch six passes last week, and Robinson displayed his versatility by catching multiple bubble screens against Syracuse as well. Hunter Jr. got his first taste of action on Saturday and produced a touchdown catch. Carlisle will return from his knee injury for the Irish, and he showcased his talents in the Michigan game by catching two touchdowns.

Brian Kelly had kind words to say about the group recently, complementing on the Irish WR corps’ growing confidence with each passing game. The group will need to be at their best against Stanford as the Cardinal have the nation’s No. 1 rated pass defense. In particular, cornerback Alex Carter lining up against Fuller will be a matchup that many NFL scouts will be watching in South Bend on Saturday.
