A.J. Green Deserving of No. 16 Spot on NFL’s Top 100 Players

A.J. Green has made quite the name for himself in just two short years in the NFL. The Cincinnati Bengals took him at No. 4 in the 2011 draft, and expectations were high right from the start for the former Georgia Bulldog. But so far, he’s done nothing but live up to the hype, and now he’s earned the respect of his fellow players. Green was recently announced as the No. 16 player on the NFL Network’s Top 100 countdown.

One thing is for sure, if a player cracks the top 20 after only two seasons, they must be really good at their job. Some of the players interviewed for Green’s segment on the countdown just marveled at his athleticism and ability to make plays. The way they described it, it sounds like there’s no catch Green can’t make, which is an assessment I agree with.

Statistics are one thing, and Green has the numbers to back up his ranking, but all you have to do is watch him play on one Sunday to know that this guy is the next big thing. Depending on how things pan out his season, you could start to make a case that he’s the best receiver in the AFC. However, if you tried to argue with me that Green is only behind Calvin Johnson right now in the entire league, I wouldn’t have much to say to contradict it.

The sky is no doubt the limit for No. 18, and there’s a very good chance he’ll continue to move up the rankings again next season.
