Denver Broncos Opens Up Preseason Action Against the San Francisco 49ers

Denny Medley USA TODAY Sports

Ah, football is back. The first game of the preseason was on Sunday night as the Dallas Cowboys defeated the Miami Dolphins, but Thursday will be the preseason opener for a large majority of teams, most noticeably the Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers, who will be taking the field against one another Thursday night.

We all know how the 49ers season ended last year with a Super Bowl loss to the Baltimore Ravens, who of which also ended the Broncos season in an epic divisional round playoff game.

Over the offseason, the Broncos made a major move by adding former New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker, giving QB Peyton Manning an elite receiver. But the 49ers made a move themselves, by acquiring Ravens wide out Anquan Boldin, who helped the Ravens defeat them in the Super Bowl last year.

With it being the preseason, don’t expect to see a lot playing time from Colin Kaepernick or Peyton Manning, but hey, football is back! Even though the preseason doesn’t mean a whole lot, or anything at all, it is a good chance to see your team play, and to see some of the backups play. You never know when your starting QB or Defensive End will get hurt, so the preseason is a perfect opportunity to watch other guys play. Sit back and enjoy the action, only a few more weeks till the start of the regular season.
