Baltimore Ravens Rumors: Tandon Doss To Be Cut?

Tandon Doss

My, how the mighty have fallen. Not that Baltimore Ravens WR Tandon Doss was ever mighty to begin with. Needless to say, his hierarchy on the depth chart never seemed to be in question until now.

Doss was the Ravens’ fourth-round draft pick in 2011 out of Indiana. The future looked bright for Doss as he was hand-picked by QB Joe Flacco. Doss was to be the heir apparent to Anquan Boldin, who was shipped off to the San Francisco 49ers earlier this offseason.

This was the time for Doss to step up and prove his worth. Unfortunately, he has proved nothing and now a mere roster spot looks to be in doubt.

Doss has not stood out in the preseason and was responsible for a pick-six in the last preseason game against the Carolina Panthers. After the play, he was chewed out by Flacco and the coaching staff.

Only three receiver spots are pretty much locks at this point, with those receivers being Torrey Smith, Jacoby Jones and Brandon Stokley. Undrafted free agent Marlon Brown most likely landed himself a spot after his amazing game against the Panthers. Laquan Williams is probably safe as well with a few solid performances in the passing game and special teams.

Aaron Mellette has also looked impressive, and the Ravens hardly ever cut draft picks the same year they were drafted.

That’s six receivers that are looking good to make the roster. I didn’t mention Deonte Thompson, who suffered a minor injury in the first preseason game. If you do the math, it looks like Doss’ days are numbered.
