Percy Harvin Will Bring Vertical Dimension To Seahawks-49ers’ Feud

Percy Harvin

Joe Nicholson – USA TODAY sports

It’s a bit strange watching the Seattle Seahawks‘ offense thus far in 2013 because we all know that one of their top offensive weapons is not in uniform. Percy Harvin was brought to Seattle this off-season as an all-purpose wide receiver, who was supposed to be quarterback Russell Wilson‘s No. 1 target. Unfortunately, a hip injury will keep Harvin out until at least Week 7, so Wilson and company must make do for now.

Due to Wilson and Colin Kaepernick‘s uncanny talents, NFL pundits across the globe predicted the most recent Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers‘ battle to be more of an offensive battle. However, the early going of Sunday night’s game showed that each squad lacks a play-making wide receiver to break down defensive backs.

This is where Harvin comes into the picture.

Whenever he is able to return to action, Harvin is going to bring a vertical dimension to a Seattle offense that hasn’t had an All-Pro caliber wide out in over two decades! With the ability to take off the top off of opposing defenses like San Francisco’s. Not to mention, Harvin’s return will also open running lanes for star running back Marshawn Lynch, who has been bottled up to start the 2013 campaign.

For now, the 49ers-Seahawks’ rivalry remains one of the best in the NFL, but once Harvin returns this feud could be the best in the league.
