Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Redskins: Baylor Bears Reunion for Terrance Williams, RG3

A Baylor Bears reunion took place at the AT&T Stadium for the NFL Sunday Night game between NFC East rivals, the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Redskins.

Cowboys wide receiver Terrance Williams faced his college teammate, Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III on the field once again on Sunday.

In this Week 6 meeting, Dallas demonstrated the big “D” for dynamic defense (not among the best in the league but way better than in Week 5) and ultimately took home the “W” to tie the top NFC East division record at three victories and defeats apiece with the Philadelphia Eagles, who they will play on the road in Week 7.

In particular, Williams provided a stellar rookie performance, including scoring one touchdown after catching a 15-yard pass from QB Tony Romo, who played his career best and set franchise records against the Denver Broncos.

On the other hand, Griffin did not deliver his prime game compared to his rookie season. I attribute Griffin’s latest lackluster play that is uncommon of the “RG3” QB spree to his time off. After all, he is still recovering from surgery on his right knee, and Washington just returned from a bye week.

Baylor head coach Art Briles also was present to watch his former Bears play. Briles must take pride in these two players who he took under his wing because Williams was a third-round 2013 NFL Draft pick (74th overall), and Griffin was the second overall 2012 NFL Draft pick and the first-ever Heisman Trophy winner from Baylor in 2011.

After Griffin went pro last season, there was some concern about how the Bears would fare without him in 2012, but Williams, who had already been a starter 10 times since 2010, still came through by leading Baylor in kickoff returns for the second consecutive season with an average of 21.4 yards and the nation for receiving yards with an average of 18.9 yards.

Maybe Briles will be next out of the three featured here to go from the NCAA to the NFL, as he shows potential and promise of prospectively coaching the pros. He already has been exposed to the league personally, as his daughter, Jancy Briles, does PR for the Cowboys.
