The New York Jets went into Week 11 of the NFL season as a definite playoff contender. However, a brutal loss to the Buffalo Bills has everyone in the Big Apple wondering what kind of team the Jets really are. Considering the Jets have beaten tough teams like the New Orleans Saints, but have lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers you really can’t blame New York natives for their skepticism.
With that being said, if Geno Smith was more consistent then it would be much easier to get a read on ”Gang Green.” As it stands; Smith is a rookie quarterback that has played like one. With the emergence of Andrew Luck, Russell Wilson and Robert Griffin III in 2012, many were expecting Smith to start his career in similar fashion.
The Bills’ pass defense is one of worst in the NFL, so the fact that Smith completed eight of his 23 passes for just 103 yards is downright upsetting. If those statistics weren’t embarrassing enough, Smith also tossed three interceptions and lost a fumble, which resulted in Smith’s benching. It’s understandable for Smith to be moderately inconsistent in his first year, but his peaks and valleys this season have been far too drastic.
Moreover, the worst part about the Jets’ Week 11 loss is the fact that the Miami Dolphins won and are now tied with New York in the AFC Wild Card chase.
