1st Round: Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, FS, Alabama

It’s no secret the Eagles’ secondary needs some serious help. Even though their safeties have been playing acceptable football as of late, they can’t continue to get by with these backup-caliber safeties. If the Eagles were smart, they’d take the best safety in the draft with their first-round pick. Clinton-Dix is a physical, aggressive defender who plays the run better than just about every safety in college football. He’s also a terrific cover man, and could develop into a Pro Bowler before too long.

2nd Round: Darqueze Dennard, CB, Michigan

The Eagles’ issues in the secondary go behind the safety position. So far this season, they haven’t gotten good play from their cornerbacks, which could lead them to bolster the position via the draft. If that’s the case, adding a player like Dennard would be a great move. A physical cover man who isn’t afraid to lay the wood, Dennard does a great job of using his footwork and agility to stick with wide receivers. If he can cut down on penalties, the Michigan State product could be a legitimate No. 1 cornerback in the NFL.

3rd Round: Devin Street, WR, Pitt

With numerous receivers headed for free agency after what has turned out to be an inconsistent season for the group, the Eagles are going to need some extra help out wide. With Street, they’d be getting an athletic, soft-handed receiver with the ability to make big plays in the passing game. He has outstanding body control and does a great job of adjusting to the ball in the air. If he’s going to succeed in the NFL, Street will need to bulk up and improve on his route running.

4th Round: Isaiah Crowell, RB, Alabama State

There’s no denying that LeSean McCoy is the featured back in Philadelphia, but you can never have enough talented runners in Chip Kelly’s offense. Crowell is a superb running back with elite talent, but a questionable character. He was dismissed from Georgia after being arrested on felony gun charges, and took his talents to ASU to continue his football career. When he plays, he’s a threat to score six every time he touches the ball. If the Eagles feel comfortable with his maturity, Crowell is definitely worth a mid-round flier.

5th Round: Stephen Morris, QB, Miami (FL)

Even with Nick Foles playing well and Matt Barkley waiting in the wings, the Eagles could still use another quarterback moving forward who has the athleticism to run the read-option offense. Morris is an intriguing prospect who has plenty of speed and elusiveness, but might not have the arm to get the job done in the NFL. He’s been extremely inconsistent throughout his college career, but could develop into a quality passer with the proper coaching.

5th Round (via NE): Nat Berhe, SS, San Diego State

Just because they drafted Clinton-Dix and Dennard earlier doesn’t mean that they’re done upgrading their secondary. The Eagles need lots of help on the backend, and adding a strong safety to go with their free safety makes sense. Berhe is an intriguing prospect out of San Diego State who has been extremely productive throughout his college career. While he does struggle at times with open-field tackles, he’s a solid cover man and has the potential to develop into a quality starter at the next level.
