Miami Dolphins Should Make Rick Ross A Part-Owner

So Rick Ross wants to own a piece of the Miami Dolphins, and the Dolphins would be wise to offer it to him.

The rapper made it known that he recently met with the Dolphins’ ownership about potentially acquiring a small percentage of the team, and indicated that the meeting was productive.

Raised in Miami, Ross graduated from Miami Carol City High School, and has long been a vocal supporter of the Miami area. If he were to become a part-owner of the Dolphins, Ross would join a club that includes Gloria Estefan, Fergie, Marc Anthony, along with Venus and Serena Williams.

That said, Ross may bring something to the table that the others don’t.

Sure, Gloria and Emilio Estefan are the first family of the Cuban-American community in South Florida, Fergie has The Black Eyed Peas, Marc Anthony used to be relevant, and Venus and Serena are two of the best tennis players ever. But, Rick Ross becoming a Dolphins stakeholder would prove that a kid from Carol City can own a piece of his hometown team.

For those of you who aren’t from South Florida, Carol City is a rough place. With violent crime and murder rates that are exponentially higher than the national average, it is easy to see how despondency could run rampant in the area. Ross’ ascension to ownership of the most beloved sports franchise in the area would be groundbreaking.

Has he had his share of indiscretions? Absolutely, but so has Jim Irsay, and Ross would only be a minority owner of the team. Local loyalty and organizational “swagger” would go through the roof, and maybe there would be a few less orange seats on game days. So go ahead Dolphins — take the leap and bring Rick Ross into the fold.
