Oakland Raiders Rumors: Jon Gruden Wanted Team To Draft Johnny Manziel

Every now and then an NFL rumor comes across the wire that’s so crazy, it must be true. While there have been a ton of rumors surrounding the Oakland Raiders as of late, this one may take the cake.

According to three sources, Jon Gruden spent round 1 of the draft imploring the #Raiders: Draft Johnny Manziel. Just imagine #whatif

It’s a little hard to believe that Gruden would implore his former team to take Manziel, but not completely crazy. Gruden falls in love with players each and every Monday night, so it’s entirely possible that he was sold on Johnny Football being a franchise player last May. Plus, if he were entertaining the idea of a coaching comeback – why not plant a few seeds with the Raiders and set things up for the future?

Unfortunately for Raiders fan, Manziel is now in Cleveland, and Gruden is still in the announcer’s booth. Both of those things will likely still be true next season too.

But if you’re a fan of the silver and black, and you need something to get you through this awful season, the thought of a Chucky return could be just the ticket. Because if there’s anyone who could make the Raiders relevant again, it’s Jon Gruden.
