5 Potential Super Bowl Contenders With Jay Cutler

For as much negativity as there is surrounding one Jay Cutler, you would think he was a NFL pariah with nothing but awful numbers and lackluster play on his resume. That couldn’t be further from the truth, however. Despite his often blasé demeanor and completely inappropriate body language, these five teams would become Super Bowl contenders the minute Cutler walked into the huddle.

This one is a bit of a reach, considering that the Skins haven’t exactly been knocking on the door to contender status without Cutler, but with a consistent (relatively speaking) presence under center, they’d at least have a shot. And you have to think a QB whisperer like Jay Gruden would love to get his hands on Cutler. That relationship could blossom and land Daniel Snyder’s team in the spotlight for reasons other than an unsavory nickname.

Brian Hoyer’s play has gone downhill in a hurry this season, and Johnny Manziel looked overmatched in his debut. Although this would be an unlikely scenario, perhaps a Johnny Football for Cutler swap would make sense for both organizations. Cleveland’s current foundation is defense, and Cutler hasn’t had much help on that front in Chicago during his tenure there. Cutler and Josh Gordon would be quite a scary combo of arm strength and speed.

Already boasting the player who should be the league’s MVP in J.J. Watt, thinking about this Texans squad with someone relevant throwing the football is scary. They are still vying for a Wild Card spot heading into the season’s final weekend, but Cutler would give DeAndre Hopkins and Andre Johnson a real quarterback. It wouldn’t be a stretch to consider this team amongst the likes of the New England Patriots and Denver Broncos with Cutler in tow.

It’s been fairly obvious all season that the Rams are a team to be reckoned with despite their shortcomings at quarterback. Imagining this team with a signal-caller the caliber of Cutler has to be terrifying for fellow NFC West members, and the big-armed gunslinger could bring some much-needed explosiveness to the St. Louis offense. A young receiving corps featuring Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey would blossom with Cutler.

Carson Palmer and Drew Stanton’s injuries aside, the Cardinals have needed a legitimate quarterback since the day Kurt Warner called it quits. This roster is loaded with talent on both sides of the ball, but the quarterback position has been an anchor holding them back down the stretch. Larry Fitzgerald would finally have the quarterback he deserves if the acquisition of Cutler were to take place.
