In the third quarter of the Pittsburgh Steelers AFC North-clinching 27-17 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, the Steelers got a serious scare when Le'Veon Bell left the game with a hyperextended knee. The severity of the injury is not yet known, leaving Bell questionable for the Steelers' wild-card game against the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday. Here are five free agent running back options for the Steelers to consider.

“The Law Firm” has two 1,000-yard rushing seasons to his name, with the second coming as recently as 2012 with the Cincinnati Bengals. The power-running tailback previously played four seasons with the New England Patriots. Green-Ellis was the starter for the Bengals in 2013, but was released in late August.

Bush was once a highly-regarded power running back. The fourth-round pick out of Louisville was expected to be a first-rounder before he broke his leg early in the 2006 NCAA season. Bush most recently played 15 games with the Bears in 2013, but averaged just 3.1 yards-per-carry.

Since being drafted in the fourth round out of North Carolina State in 2010, Andre Brown has already been a member of five different teams. He started eight games for the New York Giants in 2013. Brown has twice been suspended for the use of performance-enhancing drugs, including an eight-game suspension to start the 2014 season.

Stephens-Howling is a former Steeler, so he has some familiarity with the team’s offensive system. That is a huge plus considering any player the Steelers sign would have less than a week to learn the playbook. He played in only one game for the Steelers before tearing his ACL early in the 2013 season.

The former first-round pick out of Arkansas played in all 16 games of the Steelers 2013 season, giving him a big advantage over the other free agent candidates. Jones started two games while Le’Veon Bell was out with injury, but only managed 184 yards and a 3.8 yards-per-carry average for the season.
