It is obvious that the Miami Dolphins are in need of a few key pieces to get this team to the next level, and while there is a ton of top talent hitting the free-agent market, there are a number of players the Dolphins shouldn’t target. Here are the top five.

Peterson’s off-the-field troubles derailed his season in 2014, and his career is on the ropes. If he goes on the market as a free agent, he will demand a high price, and the Dolphins simply can’t afford to shell out big time money on a running back.

Yes, the Miami Dolphins need cornerback help, and Revis is unquestionably a top tier talent, but the contract demands and personality flaws outweigh his value for the Dolphins.

An offensive linemen with injury and conditioning problems won’t find a happy home in Miami, and James Carpenter has struggled with both. Even though the Dolphins need offensive line help, this would be a bad fit.

Yes, he’s a local, and yes, he has been one of the best safeties in the league for what seems like forever, but he’s on the wrong side of 30 and the inevitable decline is starting. To shell out big money for one or two years of productivity just doesn’t make sense for a team that isn’t a realistic Super Bowl contender.

There is no bigger talent on the free-agent market this season, and although the Dolphins are in desperate need of a big time defensive tackle, signing Suh would be a mistake. The massive contract he would demand would hamstring the franchise, and his history of dirty play would not mesh well with the kind of atmosphere head coach Joe Philbin is trying to put together.
