Fans of the Chicago Bears may be thrilled to rid themselves of offensive-minded head coach Marc Trestman. However, if Rex Ryan, son of Bears legend Buddy Ryan, becomes the new head coach in Chicago, there is a good chance he will bring Trestman on as his offensive coordinator.

It is premature to talk about Ryan as the head coach of the Bears considering he has not even interviewed for the position. With that said, he is my pick to land in Chicago for various reasons.

For starters, Ryan’s lineage runs thick through the Bears franchise. Not to mention, Chicago needs a defensive-minded head coach after the experiment Trestman attempted to implement the past two seasons did not work. The reality is Ryan is one of the best defensive-minded head coaches in the league, which is why the Bears would be lucky to hire him.

On the other hand, newly hired general manager Ryan Pace, who at 37 years old is the youngest GM in the NFL, may not be looking to acquire a head coach with as much flair as Ryan. Even though Ryan is a no-nonsense coach, he does manage to allow his emotions get the best of him. Considering Trestman was emotionless, it would not be a bad idea to bring in someone with as much flair as Ryan. Plus, Ryan’s desire to win a Super Bowl title would fit right in with the starved fans of Chicago.

The former New York Jets head coach who led the franchise to back-to-back AFC Championship berths has interviewed for the Atlanta Falcons, Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers head coach openings. No matter where he lands, and it will assuredly be somewhere, Ryan would like to bring Trestman along with him.

Despite the fact Bears quarterback Jay Cutler struggled with Trestman’s offensive scheme, there is no denying that it can be successful with the right personnel. At least, Ryan would bet the fate of his next job on it.
