The Green Bay Packers got very close to playing in the Super Bowl. Even though they lost a tough game in the NFC Championship game, the Packers are perhaps a few players away from making the Super Bowl next season. That being said, Ted Thompson needs to have a good draft in April. Using FanSpeak's mock draft simulator, I give you my latest Packers seven-round mock draft.

With B.J. Raji likely leaving in free agency, the Packers have a need at the defensive tackle position. Letroy Guion played heroically this season, but his contract is up and he will likely get more money on the open market. By bringing in a guys like Eddie Goldman, the Packers would get a quick player who can play as a five-technique in the 3-4 or or as a three-technique in the 4-3.

Round 2: CB Kevin Johnson

In terms of length and physicality, there may not be a better cornerback in this draft than Vanderbilt's Kevin Johnson. Tramon Williams was really bad towards the end of the season, and the fact of the matter is that the Packers need a decent cornerback opposite of their shutdown corner in Sam Shields. Johnson has the ability to be that guy.

Randall Cobb's contract is up and the Packers could very well have a hole at the receiver position. Yes, Davante Adams came on at the end of the year, but even if he moves into the No. 2 role, the Packers have a void at the No. 3 receiver. Jarrett Boykin could opt to go elsewhere in free agency and Jared Abbrederis hasn't played much in the NFL. This is why the Packers should draft a receiver, and Justin Hardy fits the bill perfectly.

Round 4: ILB A.J. Tarpley

A.J. Hawk needs a linebacker next to him who can tackle and play the pass. Jamari Lattimore was decent this past season, but the Packers need to add another linebacker, and that player should be A.J. Tarpley. The Stanford product has good instincts and he could make an impact on special teams as well.

Round 5: OT Rob Havenstein

Bryan Bulaga is aging and the Packers need to bring in a tackle. It also doesn't help that David Bakhtiari hasn't shown much at the left tackle position. To help, the Packers should bring in a guy like Rob Havenstein. The in-state product from Wisconsin is another offensive linemen from an offensive linemen powerhouse, and he would provide insurance in case of injuries.

Round 6: TE Tyler Kroft

Although his college numbers do not pop out at you, Tyler Kroft has a decent ceiling in the NFL. The 6-foot-6, 240-pound tight end has good build and long arms. I see him as a nice contributor in the running game as well as a decent option in the passing game.

Round 7: RB B.J. Catalon

The Packers have their guy in Eddie Lacy at the running back position. However, they could benefit greatly by bringing in a speedy running back. Look no further than B.J. Catalon, a guy many people aren't talking about. Catalon is a 5-foot-9, 190-pound back who could be a nice third-down option for Aaron Rodgers and the Packers.
