Super Bowl records have a little more importance than regular season records. A team or player having an incredible performance when it matters most is much more impressive than huge numbers against weaker competition during some random game. Here are five records that we could see fall during Super Bowl XLIX.

Julian Edelman was second in the NFL with an average of 12.0 yards per punt return. He could easily break the record for punt return yards in a game (90, Desmond Howard), longest return (45, John Taylor) or punt return average for a single game (18.7, John Taylor).

Dan Ross of the Cincinnati Bengals had an incredible performance in Super Bowl XVI. He racked up 11 catches for 104 yards and two TDs, all of which are records. Rob Gronkowski is arguably the best receiving tight end in the NFL. Topping any or all of those records is definitely in the cards.

Super Bowl VII between the Miami Dolphins and Washington Redskins holds the record for lowest scoring game. The Dolphins took down the Redskins by a score of 14-7. Super Bowl XLIX features a couple of great defenses. The offenses aren't too shabby either, but the defenses have what it takes to dominate and take this record.

Russell Wilson averaged 53.1 rushing yards per game this season. The Super Bowl record for rushing yards by a quarterback is held by Steve McNair. He ran for 64 yards when the Tennessee Titans fell to the St. Louis Rams in Super Bowl XXXIV.

Tom Brady will be breaking a record just by starting the game. His sixth start will be the most by a player at any position. He already holds records with 127 career pass attempts and 1,277 career passing yards. I'm guessing he's going to be able to add to these. Brady also has nine career touchdowns passes in the Super Bowl, which is two shy of Joe Montana's record of 11.
