Free agent running back Chris Johnson is recovering at an Orlando hospital after being shot in the arm Saturday night, according to Jay Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer and Ian Rapoport of NFL.com. There was at least one causality, including one of Johnson’s friend, but Johnson is expected to be “okay.”

According to Rapoport, Johnson was in a car riding around with friends when they were hit with gunfire.

Orange County Sheriff officials say the shooting took place around 4:09 AM, when a mystery shooter opened fire on the Jeep that Johnson and his friends were in. Johnson was one of three people shot in the incident. Police say the victims were stopped at a red light when another car pulled up next to them and opened fire. Johnson was reportedly shot in the shoulder, but is in stable condition at the hospital.

Johnson is currently a free agent. The New York Jets declined to pick up the 2015 option on his contract and he is not expected to return to the team. Johnson played in all 16 games of the 2014 season for the Jets and rushed for a career-low 663 yards.

As of now, it’s too early to tell the lasting ramifications this drive-by shooting will have on the rest of Johnson’s career. Hopefully he’s able to make a quick and full recovery. If that’s the case, this incident shouldn’t have much of an impact on Johnson’s current free agency status.
