The San Diego Chargers just struck gold. Not only will they be getting Orlando Franklin, one of the best offensive linemen on the market, but they will be taking him away from the Denver Broncos, a team that has been pretty dominant on the offensive side of the ball since Peyton Manning joined — to say the least.
Free-agent guard Orlando Franklin has told people he will leave the Broncos and sign a five-year deal with the Chargers, per sources.

Under Manning, the Broncos have had a top offense in this league. Losing Franklin will have an effect on that, but it remains to be seen how great that effect will be. Without a doubt, Franklin’s services will be a huge blessing for the Chargers, though.
Given the fact that Franklin has played both right tackle and left guard, his value becomes that much greater for San Diego. There is also that fact that Franklin is only 27 years old, so it is not like San Diego is getting him out of his prime or anything like that.
Regardless, it is never a bad move any time a team can take away a solid piece from a divisional rival, which is exactly what the Chargers managed to pull off. Needless to say, this was an all-around great move for San Diego.
