It’s been a lackluster two years for former Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o in the NFL, but the San Diego Chargers have a plan to rekindle the magic from his Heisman finalist season. Remember that “girlfriend” Te’o boasted about online? Well, the Bolts need to bring her back into the picture for next season.

If you can recall from that senior campaign in South Bend for Te’o, his girlfriend’s supposed tragic death in Hawaii became a national story. Then when the truth came out that the linebacker had never actually met said girlfriend and that it was actually a man pretending to be a woman who was talking to Te’o, the story blew up to new proportions.

Well, the Chargers know what kind of player they thought they drafted from those days when Te’o was playing to honor his girlfriend, and they are hoping to bring back that version of the linebacker by hiring him a new virtual squeeze.

If you think this story is sick and wrong, well, just consider how happy Te’o was during that 2012 season for Notre Dame and how well he played. His 113 tackles and seven interceptions during that season absolutely dwarf the 122 total tackles and one measly pick he’s been able to notch since changing out the golden helmet for lightning bolts two years ago.

So now the plan is to find another very convincing man living in his mother’s basement to talk with Te’o online and get the linebacker rekindling his Notre Dame days in San Diego. Hey, it’s worth a shot. A new Lennay Kekua could actually give the Chargers some playoff hopes in the coming season.

Coleman Slawski is a complete fool. Seriously, check him out.
