The NFL Draft is rapidly approaching. Here is a breakdown of the top five fifth-round draft picks made by the Pittsburgh Steelers since 1995.

Stevenson Sylvester was projected to be a second-round pick going into his senior year at Utah, but a subpar season saw him fall to the fifth round. Sylvester played in 50 games during his four years in Pittsburgh, and his overall effect was marginal.

4. Dennis Dixon (No. 156 overall, 2008)

Before Marcus Mariota, there was Dennis Dixon.

In 2009, Dixon got the start after injuries to Ben Roethlisberger and Charlie Batch. His first career start was against determined division rivals the Baltimore Ravens. Pittsburgh lost the game 20-17 in overtime, but Dixon played with enough courage to earn the respect of Pittsburgh fans.

3. Lee Flowers (No. 151 overall, 1995)

One word: underrated.

Lee Flowers shouldn’t be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but he should be appreciated. During his four-year span as a Pittsburgh starter, Lee amassed four interceptions, eight forced fumbles, 306 tackles and 12 sacks.

2. William Gay (No. 170 overall, 2007)

William Gay has become a dependable DB. While he never ascended to an elite level of play, he’s totaled 365 career tackles and nine career interceptions. Gay is still a stable veteran in the Pittsburgh defensive backfield.

1. Clark Haggans (No. 137 overall, 2000)

Two words: Extremely underrated.

Hagans started at linebacker for Pittsburgh between the years of 2004-07. During his four seasons as starting LB, Pittsburgh finished No. 1 in total yards allowed twice. During his eight years in Pittsburgh, Haggans had 210 tackles and 32.5 sacks.
