The San Diego Chargers have been in the news lately due to trade rumors surrounding Philip Rivers. They have been mentioned as one of the teams interested in trading up to get Marcus Mariota. As it stands now, they have the No. 17 overall pick. The Chargers have a total of six picks, with no seventh rounder. Here is what they might do with each of their selections.

It was hard to watch the Chargers' offensive line at times last year. It's amazing Philip Rivers was able to survive the season. Ereck Flowers is one of the top tackles in the draft and would be a good pick for San Diego. He has the size and athleticism to be very effective but needs to improve his footwork.

Round 2: Carl Davis, DT, Iowa

Carl Davis would give the Chargers a much-needed force in the middle of their defense. The main knock on him is the lack of production he had compared to other top prospects. He has all of the physical tools and should benefit from getting into a professional conditioning program. Some scouts believe he has first-round talent, so it would be good value for San Diego in the second round.

Round 3: Tyler Lockett, WR, Kansas State

The Chargers should look to add a wide receiver at some point in the draft, and Tyler Lockett would be a great fit for them. His biggest strength might be his route running, which is rare for young receivers. He has a chance to be a very good slot receiver and would help replace Eddie Royal in the Chargers' offense.

Round 4: Mike Davis, RB, South Carolina

The Chargers could use another running back after losing Ryan Mathews in free agency. Mike Davis would be a nice complement to the other backs on their roster. He isn't a flashy runner, but he does a good job of taking what the defense gives him. He would likely be a higher draft pick if he hadn't struggled last year playing through injuries.

Round 5: Taiwan Jones, ILB, Michigan State

Taiwan Jones would give the Chargers some depth at linebacker. He is an experienced player who should be able to step in and contribute immediately. He can struggle in coverage but should help in the run game and as a blitzing linebacker. Jones would be a fairly safe pick, because he should have no problem carving out some kind of role.

Round 6: Jeremiah Poutasi, OG, Utah

Jeremiah Poutasi played tackle in college but will likely be moved inside to guard in the NFL. The Chargers need plenty of help along the line, and Poutasi is worth a shot late in the draft. He showed improvement throughout his college career, which shows he is willing to work at his craft. He has to improve his ability to sustain blocks if he wants to have a long career.
