5 Indianapolis Colts Who Won't Survive Training Camp in 2015

The Indianapolis Colts have an interesting roster. They have quite a number of young players to the point where it does not take much to make a player a team veteran. However, with the influx of new rookies and proven NFL veterans joining the Colts this offseason, some Colts veterans may not make the active roster.

Arkin has been a practice squad journeyman for four years in the NFL. He joined the Colts' active roster last year due to many offensive line injuries. The Colts signed offensive guard Todd Herremans, an 11-year NFL veteran. Also, guard Donald Thomas is returning after tearing his quad last year. The Colts have other versatile linemen like Gosder Cherilus and Hugh Thornton, so it’s hard to see Arkin making the roster.

4. Henoc Muamba

Muamba joined the Colts in 2014 from the CFL. He played in 13 games for the Colts. However, the Colts added ILB Nate Irving in free agency and ILB Amarlo Herrera in the sixth round of the 2015 NFL Draft. The Colts already have D'Qwell Jackson and Jerrell Freeman. There will most likely be a battle between Herrera and Muamba for a roster spot, but Herrera’s youth and physical size make him the more likely choice.

3. Zurlon Tipton

Tipton has seen some playing time with the Colts because of injuries and lack of production from the running back position in recent years. The Colts added RB Frank Gore and drafted RB Josh Robinson. The team also has Dan Herron returning, and Vick Ballard is back after tearing his Achilles tendon last year. It’s a crowded backfield and Ballard may edge out Tipton for the final RB roster spot.

2. Lance Louis

He started seven games for the Colts at guard last season. However, the five-year NFL veteran has to compete with guards Herremans, Thomas, Thornton and Cherilus. The Colts also have depth at other offensive line positions. It is hard to see Louis working his way into an active roster spot.

Whalen has been good for the Colts when called upon. He was an undrafted free agent in 2012. He started three games in 2013, but has been primarily the final receiver on the active roster, and has occasionally been pushed to the practice squad. This year, it is highly likely that he won’t make the active roster because the Colts added wide receivers Andre Johnson, Vincent Brown, Phillip Dorsett and Duron Carter.
