NFL Shockingly Suspends Broncos’ Aqib Talib One Game for Eye Gouge

The NFL has given Ndamukong Suh the benefit of the doubt in numerous incidents involving kicking and stomping various players, and most assumed that he did it on purpose. Suh has been fined eight times, but only suspended twice, despite being a multiple-time previous offender.

In another show of inconsistency with discipline, the NFL has suspended Aqib Talib for poking a Colts player in the eye during Sunday’s game. It’s just baffling to me that Suh can get away with so many blatant instances of assaulting other players, and get away with it, while Talib, who doesn’t have near the checkered past of Suh, gets suspended for an eye poke that likely could’ve been dealt with by a fine.

It’s past time for the NFL to fix the way they hand out punishments. There should be a consistent system that’s implemented. I don’t know if that would require a committee or a board of some sort, but the way things are now, there’s too much discrepancy in how certain offenses are disciplined.
