The San Francisco 49ers are in a holding pattern until they decide what to do with quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Obviously, the team can focus on other needs if Kaepernick stays, but there is no guarantee of that happening. Fortunately, the 49ers do have 12 draft picks this year, so they can adjust to multiple offseason scenarios. Ultimately, these are the five prospects the 49ers should be targeting in the upcoming 2016 NFL Draft.
5. ILB Scooby Wright

Wright will be available for the 49ers on the second day of the draft, and Chip Kelly certainly loves players from the Pac-12. Wright naturally found his way to ball carriers at Arizona. Hopefully, he can be a tackling machine for the 49ers.
4. CB Maurice Canady

The 49ers were 27th in passing defense in 2015, so they could use some additional help in the secondary. Canady would be a nice selection as a physical cornerback who performed well in one-on-one situations at Virginia and during the Senior Bowl.
3. WR Tyler Boyd

The 49ers need a receiver who can assist Torrey Smith and Anquan Boldin. Boyd has great physical skills, but he needs to become a better route runner. Still, Boyd has a similar physique to Jordan Matthews, who Kelly drafted with the Eagles.
2. OT Ronnie Stanley

If Colin Kaepernick does stay with the 49ers, the team needs to give him better protection. Stanley would be a great option and fit for the 49ers. He is an athletic lineman with great physical tools and was healthy his entire career at Notre Dame.

If Colin Kaepernick truly does not want to stay with the 49ers, then Paxton Lynch should be their first-round choice. He has a body like Andrew Luck, and some NFL scouts compare his play to Marcus Mariota. Kelly will like him a lot.
