6 Teams In Quarterback Market During Round 1 Of 2016 NFL Draft

Quarterbacks are always the most talked about commodity when it comes time for the NFL draft, and this offseason is no exception. With a lack of proven options on the free agent market and several teams in the market for a new signal-caller, the demand will once again outweigh the supply in the 2016 NFL Draft. These six teams may be desperate enough to snag a new QB one way or another in Round 1.

6. Cleveland Browns

Let’s just get this one out of the way first. There’s pretty much zero chance of the Browns passing on a signal-caller in Round 1. If a team jumps them to get their choice at No. 1 overall, Cleveland will just have to be content with the leftovers between Carson Wentz and Jared Goff.

5. San Francisco 49ers

This one seems just about as obvious as the Browns, only the 49ers will have to find a way to justify taking a QB in Round 1 with Colin Kaepernick still on the roster. While this may seem difficult, we must keep in mind the insanity Chip Kelly pulled off in Philly. Yeah, just about anything goes with this guy.

4. Buffalo Bills

The idea of the Bills taking a quarterback has been gaining steam of late, and why wouldn’t it? Do they really want to enter the 2016 season with the mediocre and injury-prone Tyrod Taylor and first-round bust E.J. Manuel as the only options on their depth chart? Don’t be surprised if they are in play for a guy like Christian Hackenberg at No. 19 overall.

3. Dallas Cowboys

While it doesn’t make sense for Dallas to waste the No. 4 overall pick on a QB, it might be wise to try and jump back into the back half of Round 1 to snag someone like Paxton Lynch. Tony Romo is one big hit away from retirement given his back issues, so an insurance policy would be worthwhile.

2. San Diego Chargers

In a similar sense as the Cowboys, the Chargers can’t use the No. 3 overall pick on a signal-caller given their defensive deficiencies and offensive line issues. However, if Paxton Lynch is still on the board in the early-to-mid 20s, perhaps they trade up and snag Philip Rivers’ successor a la Aaron Rodgers back in the day.

1. Philadelphia Eagles

The team du jour infatuated with a quarterback seems to be the Eagles and new head coach Doug Pederson’s proclaimed love for Carson Wentz. Granted, adding the North Dakota State product may take a king’s ransom to move up to No. 1 overall, but it seems like the Eagles traded one wild philosophy for another with the coaching change.
