Ranking the 5 Youngest Chicago Blackhawks
5 Youngest Chicago Blackhawks
It is an old adage of life that “age is just a number.” In the realm of sports, however, age can make or break you. This is particularly true in hockey. This is because hockey takes a great amount of conditioning and agility, which can be maintained overtime but more often than not tends to deteriorate with the passing of each season.
So, this is sufficient to assume that there is a relative age market for hockey, particularly in the NHL. For the Chicago Blackhawks, the various age of the players ranges from 19 to 40, which is a fairly large margin.
That being said, much of the mainstream talent we read and hear about throughout the season are usually a median of that age span. The ages that bookend that median are on two extreme ends of the skill spectrum.
While a player may harbor hockey talent throughout their whole lives, they tend to phase out slowly once they reach the upper limit of said spectrum. However on the opposite end, the younger players are most often smaller in number, but no less intimidating in regards to talent.
The Blackhawks have a handful of players in their early 20s, and the youngest of these are fairly impressive talents for the squad.
While these young skaters (relatively speaking) are all fairly skilled and their level of talent is all very closely comparable, there are still some characteristics that set each player apart from the other. This allows for these players to be ranked according to more than just goals scored and assists made. It allows these five members of the Blackhawk roster to be ranked additionally by the rest of their hockey skills as well.
5. Marcus Kruger
Kruger has recorded three goals and eight assists so far this season. He is a great asset on the third line at center to Ben Smith and Brandon Bollig. The thing to remember about 23-year-old Kruger is that he is a subtle and smooth skater.
4. Nick Leddy
Nick Leddy is apart of the quick- sticked Chicago defense. The 22-year-old has put up two goals and a whopping 10 assists thus far this season. Leddy is such an amazing and talented young player, and is the only defenseman on this list. He helps to make the defense blindingly fast.
3. Brandon Saad
21-year-old Brandon Saad is, on the surface, impressive for his record this season of seven goals and 11 assists. There is no question of his ability to keep up with fellow winger Patrick Kane, whom he shares the second line with. Saad is more so impressive and known amongst his teammates for being mature beyond his years. This is a great quality that will serve to keep him level headed throughout his no doubt talent filled career.
2. Andrew Shaw
There are many aspects about Andrew Shaw that are astounding. First off, he does not look to be just 22. He has seven goals and eight assists this season. He is one tough and dedicated skater, as well.
1. Brandon Pirri
Brandon Pirri is impressive for an almost endless list of reasons. The 22-year-old has started to make a real name for himself on the second line as a center with Patrick Kane and Brandon Saad.
