Anaheim Ducks Look To Carry Momentum Into Road Trip

Anaheim Ducks vs Nashville Predators

Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

Despite losing two of their last three games, the Anaheim Ducks have been playing well enough to stay near the top of the NHL standings. Although they have played one less game, they are tied in points with the Nashville Predators, so they are currently No. 1 in the league.

The Predators were able to catch up after the Ducks lost their last two games in January — back-to-back games against two tough Western Conference opponents in the San Jose Sharks and the Chicago Blackhawks. Both games were certainly not very good showings for the Ducks, who were outscored 10-4 in the two contests.

In their last game, the Ducks hosted the Carolina Hurricanes at Honda Center, a game they would come from behind to win 5-4 in overtime to continue their one-goal game streak.

The team will look to carry the momentum from this win into a five-game road trip over the next week or so. It’s going to be an important test for the club, especially as they look to remain on top of the standings.

In a long-awaited game on Thursday, the Ducks will take on the Predators in Nashville; it will be a game of two heavy hitters in the Western Conference, and a good test for the Ducks, who will look to climb back on top of the NHL standings. In either case, one team will top the other in points after this game.

In their five-game road trip, the Ducks will also play the Washington Capitals, Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers and the Hurricanes.
