The Washington Capitals are playing some amazing hockey this season as Barry Trotz has done a fantastic job at getting the most of his players all year long. Nicklas Backstrom and Alexander Ovechkin have emerged as MVP candidates, but have lacked a consistent right wing partner all year. Here are five deals the Caps should consider before the trade deadline.

Stewart brings a nice mix of snarl and offensive pop, and could fit in well with the flashy Backstrom and Ovechkin. With the Sabres on the verge of a major fire sale, the Caps should come knocking to add some grit and offense.

4. Sean Bergenheim From the Florida Panthers

Bergenheim wants out of Florida and is an amazing playoff performer, as evidenced by his goal-scoring prowess during the Tampa Bay Lightning’s run to the 2011 Eastern Conference Finals. Adding his two-way acumen and versatility might make a major difference in a playoff series.

Edmonton needs a makeover, and sending Eberle out of town would be great for his career. Eberle would fit in great with Ovechkin and Backstrom and could showcase his big-game abilities on the NHL stage for the first time after coming up aces time and time again for Canada internationally.

Despite a recent winning streak, the Devils will be sellers at the deadline and Ryder will be a sought-after commodity. The right wing has a lethal wrist shot and would in nicely on a line with Backstrom and Ovechkin. The fact he won a Stanley Cup with the Bruins in 2011 doesn't hurt his appeal to the Caps either.

For the sake of nostalgia, this has to happen. From a hockey perspective, Jagr has the skillset and hockey IQ to perfectly complement Backstrom and Ovechkin on the team's top line despite being an older player.
