After posting an amazing regular season before bowing out to the Chicago Blackhawks in the first round of the playoffs, the Nashville Predators face a busy offseason. The team has a lot of work to do to ensure they remain a winner in a tough as nails Western Conference. Here are five rumors surrounding the team in the 2015 offseason.

The pair of 20-year-olds played well beyond their years and have entrenched themselves as key building blocks for the franchise. Both players are due extensions after next season, meaning it would behoove the Predators to get deals done now to ensure they spend the prime of the careers in the Music City.

It’s an absolute longshot, but the Leafs have been rumored to be shopping the U.S. Olympian and GM Dave Poille has been enamored with Kessel since he was playing for the Boston Bruins. If the Leafs do move Kessel, I expect Poillle to at least kick the proverbial tires and gauge the Toronto’s interest.

3. Extension for Mike Fisher

The 35-year-old center is a free agent, and after coming back from an Achilles injury, he played very well in second-line minutes. I fully expect a one- or two-year deal to be done before the start of free agency to keep Fisher in the Music City. The fact he’s married to country music superstar Carrie Underwood only increases the likelihood of him wrapping his career up in Nashville.

The troubled center had a renaissance year in Nashville and made Dave Poille look like a genius for inking him to a one-year deal for short money. After posting 62 points, the crafty center will be looking to cash in and get one final “big” contract. It’s anybody’s guess if the Predators want to invest a significant amount of money into a 35-year old center with off-ice problems.

Every year, regardless of the team’s success, there are rumors surrounding Shea Weber’s future in Nashville. The team captain is the owner of one of the largest contracts in the NHL, but for now he's worth every penny. Look for a team heavy on forwards, but light on defense, like the Edmonton Oilers, to call about Weber, but for the Predators to hold on to their captain.
