The football world waited last week to get the news of whether or not New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was injured in his car accident. Tom Brady’s Audi A8 was smashed up as another driver ran a red light and Brady was deemed okay, he continued on to practice and then signed a 72 million dollar contract extension days later. What the Boston Herald is reporting though is shocking. The car that Tom Brady was driving was a gift by Audi in exchange for his work with a charity called Best Buddies.

The Boston Herald is reporting that Best Buddies is a charity which was founded by Anthony Shriver of the Kennedy family and it pairs people with disabilities up with buddies or mentors. The paper is reporting that not only did Tom Brady get a free car, his entire offensive line received free 6 month leases on Audi Q7 SUV’s.

Why is Brady driving around in a free car? I agree with the paper, why didn’t Brady drive it for a bit and then auction it off, returning the money to the charity? He can afford to go out and buy his own car. He just inked a new contract which pays him nearly 18 million dollars a season. He’s married to one of the highest paid supermodels in the world, Gisele Bundchen.

They are building a 22,000 square foot mansion in California, which created another controversy. His wife, Gisele Bundchen is the United Nation’s goodwill ambassador for the environment.Their decision to build such a lavish home outraged many environmentalists and portrayed her as a hypocrite.

So why in the world would Tom Brady need to be riding around in a free car that he could have donated back to the charity and put money in their coffers to help the people which truly need the help. That is a good question and I wonder if someone in the sports media will ask him that very question. And don’t forget, this is a couple that just recently spent 1 million dollars on furniture made with 14K gold thread.
