It’s official. The Wayne Rooney and Manchester United drama is over. Behind goals from Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney, Manchester United defeated Crystal Palace 2-0 and earned David Moyes his first win at Old Trafford.

Rooney’s headband dominated the game’s conversation before the opening whistle. In case you missed it, it was protecting a gash that kept him out of England’s latest World Cup qualifiers. Nonetheless, Rooney found his season’s first goal to put away the game for United. Additionally, RVP started the scoring off a late first-half penalty kick.

While United dominated both play and possession, their passes were not always the best and they need to work on connecting them in the final third. They were playing newly promoted Crystal Palace, who went down a man early on and couldn’t do much to capitalize on United’s somewhat disconnected passes in the final third.

However, United will need to fix it when the play better quality teams in EPL action. This could end up coming back to bite them, but it caused them no harm this time.

Moreover, the duo of RVP and Rooney will be one of United’s keys to winning and succeeding in this year’s EPL action. If RVP and Rooney are on their game which they were today, then United could repeat as EPL Champions in Moyes’ inaugural season under the helm.
