The UEFA Champions League completed their third matchday with eight more matches this afternoon as the first round of the group stage is now officially over. Just like yesterday, there are several impressive results that need to be analyzed.

Some spectacular venues like Santiago Bernabeu in Spain, Old Trafford in England and Allianz Arena in Germany were only some of the stadiums where the action was held this Wednesday as there were impressive goal scoring outputs, great individual performances and some clashes between important that were decided by some key factors that will surely create controversy in the next days.

Players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Arturo Vidal, Franck Ribery and Wayne Rooney were all part of the fixtures today but there were others that stole the spotlight from the consummated stars. Among the selected performances, there are a Swedish talent and an Argentinean forward just to name a few, but they weren’t the only ones that were able to gather the world’s attention due to their playing in this matchday.

This week was also key to start separating pretenders from contenders. There are several teams that complicated their qualification to the next round with the results they obtained today and even where there are still three matches left, things are getting a bit darker for some teams that were considered title contenders at the start of the tournament.

Sergio Agüero netted a brace in Manchester City’s win against CSKA Moscow. The Argentinean forward led the team as they started losing but managed to turn the tables as they got another win that puts them in second place in their group.

4. Man. United Remain Unbeaten

Through three matches, Manchester United is still unbeaten in the Champions League. The Red Devils hosted Real Sociedad and thanks to an own goal from Martínez early in the game, they were able to get the three points as they now have seven through the first three contests. Real Sociedad have zero points and they are starting to farewell from the tournament.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored Real Madrid’s both goals in their match against Juventus in a match that was defined as a ‘Clash of Titans’ but that ended up being quite flat. A very doubtful performance from the referee surely didn’t help and it’s probable that this game will continue to be on everybody’s mouth per days.

The current Champions League winners have been able to maintain their level of play this year under Pep Guardiola's management as they cruised against Viktoria Plzen to earn a 5-0 victory without ever being in danger of losing the game. A brace from Franck Ribery led Die Roten and David Alaba, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Mario Götze also found the back of the net.
