Roma has enjoyed a fantastic start of the season after a difficult 2012-2013 campaign. The Gialorossi are undefeated in 12 games with 10 wins and two draws. One of the reasons of their success is their captain Francesco Totti. At 37-years old, ”Il Capitano” is the symbol of Roma’s resurrection.

Despite his age, Totti remains an exceptional player, a man Roma fans wouldn’t trade for anyone or anything. He has recorded three goals and six assists this season. Even though he has declined physically due to his age, Totti remains an extraordinarily gifted player with exceptional technical abilities.

From his” false nine” position, the Roma captain distributes the ball, holds it when necessary and often dictates the tempo of the game. His teammates Gervinho and Alessandro Florenzi  have on numerous occasions been served in ideal conditions thanks to Totti’s vision and passing accuracy.

Totti has never been the fastest or the most powerful player. Instead, the Roma has captain has got qualities that only a few players have. In addition to his exceptional vision, Totti has got an above-average football intelligence that helps him make the right decisions on the field. His passes and shots are always well-timed, which made Roma coach Rudi Garcia say: “He is a world-class player. He can do things on the pitch that very few others can.”

Another strength of Totti’s game is his movement of the ball. With his intelligent runs, the Roma captain creates space for his teammates to run into. His ability to place himself between the defense and midfield make  him very difficult to mark. In short, Totti knows exactly when to move into the right space to receive the ball.

At 37-years-old, Totti has his best years behind him but remains an exceptional player. The Roma captain has been pivotal in Roma’s success so far this season and if the Gialorossi were to be champions this season, it will be thanks to the exceptional talent of their captain.
