UEFA Champions League Preview: Manchester City-Viktoria Plzen
Coming off a huge win against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League this past weekend, Manchester City will look to move towards the first place of the group, and they will square against Viktoria Plzen in a thrilling encounter in the UEFA Champions League this Wednesday.
The Citizens are coming off a solid win against CSKA Moscow and they are in second place in the standings with nine points after four games, while the Czech side hasn’t been able to get any point so far in the competition.
No player has been more important for Manuel Pellegrini’s men than Argentinean striker Sergio Aguero. ‘El Kun’ has been absolutely deadly this year and he has been very effective so far. His partnership with Spaniard Alvaro Negredo has worked flawlessly, and the two strikers should cause a lot of problems to Viktoria Plzen’s defensive line.
The Czech outfit, on the other hand, has solid players all over their lines. Unfortunately, their quality is not enough to put some kind of challenge to Manchester City’s defensive line. They will need to be at their best defensively and very sharp going forward to even stand a chance in the final minutes of the game.
Prediction: Manchester City 4-0 Viktoria Plzen
The Citizens have been on a roll in recent weeks, and that trend isn’t likely to stop against the Czech champions. Look for the Citizens to dominate from the start of the game, and they could score a few goals on route to another statement win in Europe’s biggest tournament.
