Diego Simone is being courted by Paris Saint-Germain as the club is eager to replace current boss Laurent Blanc. If the Parisian club are successful in luring the Argentine manager to the Ligue 1, Atletico Madrid will be in trouble.
The other Madrid side was able to achieve unprecedented amount of success last year under the guide of Diego Simone. The Argentine boss was able to lead Atletico Madrid to their first La Liga title since the 1995/1996 season. Simeone also led the Colchoneros to their first ever UEFA Champions League final.
Much of, if not the entirety of, Atletico’s success can be attributed to Simeone. The Atletico Madrid boss brought his gritty punchy style to the Madrid club so that they could compete against the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona. Although Simeone and Atletico Madrid had to let go of Diego Costa and a number of key players, the success and the reputation of Simeone allowed Atletico to sign world class players like Mario Mandzukic and Antoine Griezmann.
With the departure of Simeone, Atletico will no longer be able to compete with the elites in Europe for players or in competitions. Fans of the Colchoneros will have to sit and watch as their club fall apart and become reserved to the role of participants in the Spanish league and sometime entrants of the Champions League.
The Atletico brass need to do everything they can to make sure that their prized manager does not leave the Vincente Calderon Stadium.
