Kansas freshman guard Ben McLemore burst onto the scene during the 2012-13 season, playing his way up the NBA Draft board.

McLemore sat out the entire 2011-12 season after being ruled ineligible by the NCAA out of high school, but despite being forced to the bench as a partial qualifier, the 6-foot-4 high-flyer serves as a good example to those who are willing to remain patient. McLemore waited out the process and the 2011-12 season, taking the time to improve and refine his game behind closed doors.

As a redshirt freshman this past season, that patience and hard work paid off right from the get-go and McLemore turned that preseason hype into All-Big 12 honors. McLemore has tons of potential at the NBA level, thanks in large part to his through-the-roof athleticism. He can step back and hit the outside jumper, but he is not afraid mix in an assortment of cuts away from the ball and attack the rim off the dribble.

Look for McLemore to hear his name early in this year’s draft.
