Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups Heading into Week 13

The 2013 NFL season has been one of the most brutal in recent memory. Every week it seems a different marquee player is hitting the turf, only to be carted off to the infirmary.

However, the abundance of injuries this year is allowing a lot tomorrow’s stars their first chance to shine. So here are some of the guys you should consider buying a lottery ticket for, in hopes of hitting it big on Sunday.

First, Carson Palmer. He’s a familiar name that is owned in only 39% of leagues and he has been absolutely lighting it up the past two weeks for the Arizona Cardinals.  Snatch vintage Carson before he falls back out of style.

Next, Benny Cunningham. Cunningham got his chance to shine once Zac Stacy went out, and shine he did.  Benny ran for 109 yards and a TD on only 13 carries against the Chicago Bears as the St. Louis Rams looked to run the ball early and often. Even if Stacy comes back, expect Cunningham to get a lot of extra touches in the next few weeks after throwing himself a Week 12 coming-out party.

With Denarius Moore falling in and out of the injury report, expect Oakland Raiders wide receiver Rod Streater to get a lot of targets moving forward. It appears Matt McGloin and Streater are quickly becoming bffs and even if Terrelle Pryor does return, he’s got to throw to somebody.

Finally, another QB option is upstart Tampa Bay Buccaneers signal caller Mike Glennon. Glennon as been surprisingly consistent since taking over in Tampa and he is getting noticeably better every week. With head coach Greg Schiano fighting for his job, take a chance on Glennon as you know Schiano is going to live and die by his ghostly-looking quarterback.
