After an absolutely dismal first half that saw his teammates fumbling the ball away on what seemed like every other touch, Tom Brady truly lived up to his moniker, as he was nothing short of terrific in leading the New England Patriots to an unreal 24-point come-from-behind victory against Peyton Manning’s Denver Broncos on Sunday night.
Coming out of the tunnel after being absolutely dominated in the first half, Brady led his young Patriots offense to five unanswered scoring drives to take the lead away from Denver.
In frigid game conditions, Manning proved to be a mere mortal going 19-36 for only 150 yards. To be fair, Manning wasn’t asked to do much in the first half as the Broncos defense simply manhandled the Pats in every facet of the game.
However, when the Broncos needed Peyton to move the ball in the fourth quarter, he returned to form making the big plays when it counted and evening up the score to force overtime.
After trading off uninspiring overtime positions, the game was unfortunately decided on a muffed punt return that gave the Patriots an easy field goal for the win.
While it was not an ideal way to end one of the best games of the year, Brady once again proved that he is in fact: Terrific. Some may have been questioning his “elite” status as the end of the 2013 season draws to a close, but this game proved that he still deserves that designation.
