From Nick Young to Baron Davis, watch what Drew League commissioner Dino Smiley had to say about the pros who play in this little-known Pro-Am league.
If there was a place where people could go watch professional NBA players ball with highly skilled amateurs for free, you would think the world would know about it, right? Well, that’s exactly what The Drew League is, and few people have even heard of it. A Pro-Am league with over 40 years of history, The Drew League has been operating from within the heart of Compton, providing a source of pride for the community, a haven for local youth during the Summer months and a place for pro players to keep their skills honed.
Everyone from current pros like Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Nick Young to retired and veteran players like Baron Davis, Metta World Peace and Cuttino Mobley have passed through the halls of King/Drew Magnet School to play ball in the school’s gymnasium with the best local talent Compton has to offer.
Check out what The Drew League’s commissioner Dino Smiley had to say about the decades old institution, and get pumped. With sponsors like Nike, The Drew League won’t stay a secret for long.
