Rob Christy - US PRESSWIRE
A source close to Penn St football indicated to me this afternoon it is now a virtual certainty McQueary will not coach Saturday.

Let’s tackle these tweets one at a time, shall we?  The first one comes as no surprise.  I’m actually shocked Mike McQueary is still employed and the thought of him coaching on Saturday was just asinine.  It looks like Penn State is making the right move in not allowing him to coach on Saturday, for both his safety and due to his involvement in this ongoing investigation.

The second one shocks me a little bit.  The fact that Joe Pa would go out and hire a prominent defense attorney could imply he knows more than he’s letting on.  I’ve heard rumors that charges may be filed against him and Paterno might be acting proactive.  I, for one, think Paterno is going to get grilled on the stand if he is called to testify, mainly because his testimony contradicts directly with McQueary’s.  If McQueary told him exactly what he saw, then Paterno’s testimony may be grounds for perjury.

The third tweet is something that I speculated on earlier today.  If the new Sandusky rumor floating around is true, the Penn State season should be cancelled.  However, in this instance, I agree with the trustees.  Canceling Saturday’s game on this late of notice would only incite more riots in Happy Valley.  Although it may sound insensitive, football will provide a distraction from this case that fans, players, and victims alike may sorely need.

That wraps up this update on the Penn State child abuse tragedy.  We will have more information on this as it becomes available.  If you are looking for more info about this case, please check out the grand jury testimony.  I have linked to it here.  I will warn you that it is incredibly graphic and not a fun read at all.  I had to stop reading at numerous points due to the allegations, but it is a must to be informed about this case.

One Rant to “Update on Joe Paterno, Mike McQueary and Saturday&...”

I don’t have a good feeling about Saturday’s game. It just seems awkward cheering for anything associated with PSU. I understand that the players aren’t directly involved in the criminal matter. But going on with a game just feels like the perpetuation of moral bankruptcy. Almost like, “well, I/we had nothing to do with it, why should I/we be punished?”
Did McQuery also take that approach during and subsequent to the rape he witnessed?
