Magic Johnson to bid on Los Angeles Dodgers ownership
It appears that another high-profile celebrity will soon throw in their hat into the bidding war for ownership of the beleaguered Los Angeles Dodgers.
NBA Hall of Famer and Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson has expressed interest in teaming up with long-time baseball man Stan Kasten, and others, to create a bidding group for the Dodgers.
Stan Kasten has experience in working with troubled teams, and was and was a large part of a group hand-picked by current MLB commissioner Bud Selig to buy the struggling Montreal Expos franchise prior to their move to Washington to become the Nationals.
Magic Johnson’s sports business background cannot be overlooked either, as his several successful ventures in the industry can attest.
While Magic will likely be the public face of the group, Kasten and others will do the work behind the scenes to make the group as competitive as possible.
With other heavy hitters like Mark Cuban entering the fray, the bidding war that results for one of baseball’s most historic and tradition-rich franchises could get very interesting.
