The Denver Nuggets and forward Danilo Gallinari have agreed to a 4 year, $42 million extension.

Gallinari, who is in his fourth season in the NBA, was the key piece for the Nuggets in the trade that sent Carmelo Anthony to the Knicks last season. Since that trade Denver has gone 30-12 in the regular season compared to the Knicks who have gone 21-24. In the aftermath of the trade it certainly looks like Denver got the better deal and it has shown on the court.

This season, Gallinari is easily having his best one as a pro averaging 17.4 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. The highlight so far was his most recent game against his former team. Gallo led the Nuggets to a 119-114 2-OT victory over New York leading all scorers with 37 points, he also chipped in 11 rebounds for his second double-double on the season.

For as much criticism as the Nuggets General Manager Masai Ujiri has received for trading away Melo, he seems to know what he is doing. He has put together a very high-quality team for George Karl to coach and now he has signed, arguably their best player, to an extension. Say what you want, but Ujiri is getting the job done in Denver.
