Take A Lap: A Call Out of Dwight Howard
Is anyone else as tired of Dwight Howard as I am? In his most recent episode of the ‘Dwight Howard Trade Show,’ he called out teammates for not giving 100% in a loss to the Hornets. Well last time I checked, he wasn’t 100% committed to his team, why would they give 100% back, when their star player won’t stop whining about being traded? I see this tirade by Howard as an attempt to save face, in a situation where he seems to be the bad guy. Is Dwight Howard a really a bad guy? Not at all, but after the last year or so, I’m starting to lose respect for him. Someone needs to call him out, and it might as well be me:
(1) First off Dwight, I know it’s rough. You play in sunny Orlando, Fl, and you make millions of dollars. I feel your pain. It’s clear that you can’t win a championship in Orlando, and you want to move on, I understand. Rumors are now swirling that you’re open to playing in Chicago with Derrick Rose, and you recently told the Chicago Tribune, “If I could play with Derrick right now and God wanted that to happen, it will happen, It has nothing to do with me not wanting to play with Derrick Rose. I love him. That’s my brother.” Wow. Really Dwight?
(2) I would appreciate it if you just played basketball, because last time I checked, that was the ONLY thing in your job description. Trust me, the Magic want to trade your selfish ass. At this point, I’m just wondering who really wants you? If I was a GM, I would flag you as having “character issues.” How dare you call out teammates, on a team that you’re not committed to.
(3) Some Recommendations: learn to make a shot outside of 10 feet, don’t lead the league in technical fouls, stop constantly whining over calls, and destroy your stupid “wish list.” Seriously, act like a professional adult athlete. Do you have a right to plead your case to officials? Absolutely. Do you have to right to want to be traded? Of course, but the way you’ve gone about everything the past couple seasons is just plain “Busch League.”
(4) Here are some things you need to consider: you’re 26 years old, you’ve been in the league 7 years, and you’re the most talented big man in the league. It’s safe to say, you’ve got a few things going for you. Players don’t win championships overnight, and you’ve got plenty of time. Take a step back, realize just how lucky you are, and put things in perspective. The way you handle yourself in your time left in Orlando will go a long way towards your future legacy. Be careful, because your public perception is rapidly going down the tubes.
I have no doubt that you will land with a contender before the end of the season, the Magic HAVE to trade you. For now, just play basketball and let the GM’s do their jobs.
In the meantime Dwight, you need to take lap. Your behavior lately has become unacceptable. Do what you’re paid to do, and play basketball to the best of your ability for the Orlando Magic. I know you will probably claim that you’re already doing that, but given all the things I just mentioned, I highly doubt it. You have a chance to be an all-time great big man, don’t blow it.

I’m tired of him too. That calling out the team is just for the media and the fans.Everyone can see he’s not giving the team his 100%.He’s starting to come off as phoney. He’ll be the next to have “THE DECISION” on TV.
