Peter Chiarelli GM for the Boston Bruins announced today that the club will extend forward Rich Peverley’s contract through the 2014-2015 season.

Peverley, 29, was acquired by the Bruins in a trade last season with the Atlanta Thrashers along with Boris Valabik for Mark Stuart and Blake Wheeler on February 18, 2011. In 23 regular season games Peverley notched 7 points and heated up during the Bruins Stanley Cup run with 12 points during the playoffs. Peverley has also not missed a game in his last two seasons.

Peverley is off to a strong start this season notching two goals in three games so far.

Hopefully Peverley can keep the momentum going as the Bruins look to rebound from losing the first two of three games this season. Peverley and the Bruins take on the Carlonia Hurricanes tomorrow night at 7:30 in Raleigh, the game will be broadcast on Versus.
