Adam McQuaid won't play against the Sabres. Jason O. Watson-US PRESSWIRE

After Adam McQuaid left the Boston Bruins‘ game against the Ottawa Senators early and did not return for the rest of the night, fans began to wonder what was happening and if “Quaider” was okay. It’s a case of better safe than sorry: McQuaid wasn’t feeling right and coach Claude Julien decided to keep him out as an overabundance of caution. He did not skate during practice and isn’t expected to play against the Buffalo Sabres. Nor is Johnny Boychuk, who’s day to day with a sprained knee, and that’s because of caution too. (Anyone else notice the glaring error in the headline on that article? However, it’s interesting that they’ve placed a timetable on Tuukka Rask‘s return from his groin injury: two weeks.)

The trio of otherwise healthy players who did not make the trip to Ottawa–Zdeno Chara, Patrice Bergeron and Tim Thomas–will be available against the Sabres, Julien said. I understand the reasoning behind keeping them out for a game, like trying to prevent injury when it seems like the injury bug has been biting the Bruins hard this season, but the team clearly missed their captain and Selke-worthy second line center, especially when given a chance on the power play.

Cute sidebar: Here is a picture of the newest addition to the Horton family, Zachary Jaden, who was born on March 29. This was posted on Tammy Horton’s Twitter account.

All together now: Awww! I bet daddy Nathan Horton is excited about his new son.
