I do realize the Boston Celtics are a star laden team that
boasts right now three sure fire Hall Of Famers. Ray Allen is the quiet go
about your business leader that leads by example. Paul Pierce is the senior
member of the group on the Celtics and is the captain of the team. Kevin
Garnett is the emotional leader of the team that has changed this teams’
culture with his fiery leadership and personality. However, these men now have
company in the leadership ranks.
The signs that last few years have
been getting more and more frequent. The last few years the veterans have been
calling for Rondo to be more. They wanted him to take charge more. It appears this
off season that Rondo is doing just that. Rondo has been working hard on his
game all offseason. Most of his time this off season has been spent at the
University of Kentucky wearing out the team’s gym and courts. The man is doing
this to improve and be ready to truly help the “Big Three” have one more
serious title run with Rondo taking a lot of the burden off their shoulders. As
we speak Rondo is practicing with the Oklahoma City Thunder and a few other
players. However, it appears that Rondo has taken a new partner for this latest
round of workouts going on right now in Kentucky. Rondo has grabbed Celtics
first round pick JaJuan Johnson to join him.
Johnson working with Rondo is huge.
Rondo understands that Johnson might be needed next year in big moments. The only
way this rookie is going to be ready is if somebody shows him the way. Rondo definitely
knows the way having come into this tough on rookies veteran environment to
find himself the starting point guard for an NBA title team. Rondo showing this
guy the ins and outs is even more important with the lockout killing JaJuan’s
first training camp. The first training camp is huge for a rookie. Rondo knows
this so he took it upon himself to grab this rookie and get his ready with real
NBA workouts and his vast knowledge of the Celtics offensive and defensive
systems.
The
bottomline is the “Big Three” will not be around forever. Rondo is clearly the
next leader of this Celtics team. The great news is that during this off season,
he is acting like it. The future is bright in Boston. Remember Go Green or Go
