( FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – LOWELL – A Boston Celtics basketball player was assaulted early Saturday morning while appearing at a nightclub, police said.
Rajon Rondo was assaulted at approximately 1:43 a.m. Saturday as he was exiting Brian’s Ivy Hall at 74 Merrimack St., the Lowell Police Department said in a release.
Rondo and several other patrons were leaving the establishment when Eric Valarezo, 31, of Haverhill, allegedly attempted to punch the star basketball player.
Police who were initially called to the scene for reports of a fight arrested Valarezo for Disorderly Conduct.
Valarezo is expected to be arraigned on Monday in Lowell District Court.
No one was injured during the incident.

Rondo is again in the news. This time it is not for positive reasons. While leaving a club, Rondo was almost punched by some moron looking to make a name for himself. I hope this idiot gets the book thrown at him for being a tool. The problem with being a celebrity is every idiot sees you as a target. Guys like this line up to cause problems. The great news is Rondo is O.K. However, these incidents are scary. If this drunk had a weapon then maybe Rondo is not as lucky as Paul Pierce was in his night club stabbing. This is another lesson for athletes to be very careful. One never knows what drunken trash lurks in the area. Remember Go Green or Go Home!!!!!!!!!!!
